"Florescent Green"_Inspired by: Edward Hopper-Gas 1940

Inspiration was assigned to us from a variety of postcards designated to each individual student. My designated postcard was a painting created by Edward Hooper. The painting is called "Gas-1940".



The garment I created from this inspiration assigned is minimalistic, has 2-toned colors, and clean. Designing the top required some research with creating variations of simple designs. The research behind the art piece created tells the story of the artists at that time. Edward's intention behind creating the painting was to create relatable emotions. According to The Collector's Website, in the article, "Get to know the king of American Realism in 15 facts," states, " Hopper's paintings highlight themes of isolation and loneliness. In their time, these works were successful at depicting the emotions of Americans during both the World Wars and the Great Depression."
